FA adopts 'Rooney Rule' for future applicants
"The Football Association will interview at least one applicant from a black, Asian and minority ethnic background for future roles in the England set-up.

English football's governing body will adopt its own version of the 'Rooney Rule' implemented in the NFL in 2003.

Chief executive Martin Glenn said the move showed the "FA is for all".

"The FA wants to become a more inclusive organisation where the workforce more represents the people who play football today," Glenn said."

If Southgate gets hits by a bus tomorrow, who the fuck would they include in the interview process to replace him?

Who are the asians that can sign up??

Anwar Uddin? That geezer that used to be or still is at West Ham with the long hair and has never brought a player in?

It's your own fault for not being a black lesbian.

I have, of course, made an assumption there.

Re: FA adopts 'Rooney Rule' for future applicants
What I find rather "annoying" about this sort of stuff is that I had a fair bit of "experience" at grass roots level with being Secretary of an Adult League for 13 years, Qualified Coach, played for 30 odd years for a host of teams, managed various adult and junior clubs for 25 odd years and went for several jobs at both County FA and FA Level and received one interview where I apparently got down to the last two and missed out to a college grad who had never kicked a ball in his life!! Does this now mean if I was a minority applicant I would have received more interviews?!?!? I'm deaf by the way and despite the disability have never put it down for the guaranteed interview scheme!!

No chance. Apart from 'snowflake' itself, they hate 'virtue-signaller' with a passion.

Nobody likes an insult directed at them that is bang on the money.

I’d love to have Chris Hughton manage us. I think he’s underrated as a manager.

Also curious about their definition of "minority ethnic".

Gypsies?
Bosnian Muslims?
Basque?
Sami?

All pretty white. All distinct ethnic minorities.

How about if someone "identifies as black" - would they get a token interview too?

'Hello, is that Chris Hughton?'
'Yes'
'We'd like you to apply for the England managers job'
"Oh, well thank you. but I'm not interested'
'What do you mean you're not interested, you HAVE to, YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE'

Whitey got the brains, we got the brawn.

We can run faster and over longer distances.
We can jump higher.
We are stronger.
Our cocks are bigger.

Physically we are signficantly better.

But most of have the thought processing power of a toaster. Yes, we can play football, but just dont have the noodle to manage.

This Rooney rule is condescending and demeaning, and will almost certainly lead to numerous tribunals where black managers are claiming discrimination because they didnt get the job.

Hughton is English! Have you ever met him?

His mother is Irish and his father Ghanain, but he's born and bred in Newham! Nice bloke, good manager, used to think he might end up back at our club. Certainly in with an England shout if he carries on the same trajectory. He has a great quality for that job - getting more out of a team than it deserves.

This will only serve to open the floodgates of more racism allegations.

If/when the black candidate isn't offered the job, people will cry that the whole process is just for show.....and it is.

Perhaps just give a black manager the job and that will surely appease the whiny pc brigade?

Erm, well no actually. When he inevitably gets the boot like 100% of the white managers before him, there will be the usual 'is it because he is black? ' questions.

Unfortunately this sums the world up at the moment. Gone PC mad and I for one f**king hate it. You can't say anything to anyone anymore for the fear of upsetting someone and if you chat a women up she cries rape. I work for a large company who have adopted this approach and it is going down the toilet rapidly. I ask anyone who will listen, if you had your own company and needed say a first rate bricklayer, would you employ the best bricklayer who applied or would you employ an inferior bricklayer of ethnic background to tick a box. If you adopt the former approach your company will succeed and if you adopt the latter your company may be o.k. but over a long period of time you won't get any contracts. It simply does not make sense. But hey, I am a white middle aged man living in the UK, I have no say!!!!!!!!

Re: FA adopts 'Rooney Rule' for future applicants
That’s all very well but what if the job applicants are all white, or any ethic person who applies doesn’t meet the criteria, what do they do then, just invite someone along for an interview anyway?

All a bit stupid and the FA bowing to the nanny state for fear of having the finger pointed at them in this day and age of political correctness, this assumption jobs wont go to people because of the colour or ethnic background is just bollocks in probably 99% of cases these days, basically its saying white people are subconsciously racists, so we have to impose this on them to keep them from putting the black man down.

And yes will only be a matter of time before we get people saying they didn’t get the job because of discrimination, when in fact it was because they didn’t have the right skill set, experience or qualifications but were led down the garden path to satisfy some stupid directive.

Exactly right. Then you will end up with black managers saying I have had 4 interviews in the last year and not got one job. And all those jobs were given to white men.

So will it go one step further when clubs are told to actually employ black managers rather than just offer them interviews.

Why can't common sense prevail and people, including black people, accept that if a black manager went for a job and was clearly the best candidate then they would get the job. Why do clubs have to be forced to interview black people just because they are black?
